Common question
What does a door hardware specification cost?
ASC quotes per project rather than from a published rate card, because scope moves with opening count, building type, and how much coordination the project carries. Send the drawings and the door schedule and you get a fee before any work starts.
How fees work
Scope sets the fee.
Three things move the number: how many openings the building has, how much of the hardware is tied to fire rating, egress, or access control, and whether the specification is being written from the start or repaired mid-project. A straightforward renovation and a hospital tower are not the same exercise.
Guide specification work for manufacturers is quoted separately from project specification work, and the two are kept apart deliberately.
Related questions
Is there a charge for the first conversation?
Send the drawings or the question. ASC will tell you what the specification needs and what it would take.
Do you charge hourly or per project?
[Fee structure pending confirmation.]
Do manufacturers pay you commissions?
No. ASC holds no factory-direct ties and takes no manufacturer commissions, which is what keeps a specification open to competitive bid.
Build note, remove before publishing. This page states the pricing model, which your spec permits where figures are confidential, but two items need your input before publishing: whether fees are hourly, per project, or per opening, and whether an initial consult is free. The second FAQ answer is a live placeholder.
